Child Support Enforcement

Texas courts can and will enforce child support orders if the decree was granted in Texas, or the non-payer (custodial parent) resides in Texas. Remedies and punishments for failure to pay child support can include:

Visitation Enforcement

Texas judges will put parents in jail — mothers or fathers — for refusing court-ordered access or failing to turn over children as prescribed in the visitation agreement. The court will typically order make-up visitation time for the affected parent.

In cases of custodial parents who chronically interfere with visitation, the court can reverse custody and award standard possession to the other parent. Likewise, non-custodial parents who repeatedly fail to turn over the child may lose access altogether.
