About
John Pfister is an experienced and highly regarded Frisco family law attorney and the founder of Pfister Family Law. With every case he takes on, John Pfister works to understand his clients’ goals and priorities; then, he uses this information to build powerful and effective cases aimed at achieving his clients’ objectives. At the firm, he represents clients in everything from contested and high-net-worth divorces to child custody battles and visitation disputes. He has successfully taken on Child Protective Services (CPS) and helped stepparents and grandparents through the adoption process. With a firsthand understanding of what his clients are going through and the challenges they face, John Pfister is a compassionate, dedicated, and aggressive advocate for those navigating tough family law issues.
John Pfister always knew he wanted to be a lawyer. He attended Texas A&M University, where he obtained a degree in Management Information Systems in 1989 before going on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from the Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1992. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas that same year.
Throughout his career, John Pfister has experienced numerous defining moments, including winning his first contested trial, successfully helping a client who didn’t expect to win custody, and, most recently, arguing a case before the Texas Supreme Court. Above all else, however, John Pfister is most proud of the opportunities he has had to make a difference in the lives of his clients. He approaches each case in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. With every client, he offers personalized legal strategies and solutions, whether that means litigating aggressively on his client’s behalf at trial or seeking a resolution through mediation.
John Pfister is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction that earns him the right to call himself an “expert” in the area of family law. He is one of only about 8% of all attorneys across all areas of practice in the state of Texas to have this distinction. Additionally, John Pfister is a member of the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists and the Frisco Bar Association. He has been selected for inclusion in the Texas Super Lawyers® Rising Stars list every year from 2014 to 2019. He was also named Collin County Litigator of the Year in 2011.
John Pfister is also a regular organizer and presenter at the Frisco Bar Mexico CLE, something he has participated in since its initial year, 2010, through the present.
John Pfister grew up on and around Air Force bases as one of three brothers. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children. He also enjoys deer hunting and collects military rifles.

“I cannot recommend John Pfister highly enough! He represented me in two separate child custody modification cases – and we were successful in both. He always kept me informed, explained my options clearly, and fought hard to achieve the best outcome for my family.”
